Offered here is Gene Sarazen's personally owned photograph from the 1935 Masters Tournament winners presentation ceremony with famed sportswriter Grantland Rice and 1935 Runner-Up Craig Wood. The 1935 Masters was the site of Gene Sarazen's "Shot Heard 'Round the World." Sarazen's double eagle on the 15th hole allowed Sarazen to catch clubhouse leader Craig Wood, and is often credited with putting the fledgling Masters Tournament on the map. We have never seen a Type 1 photograph of Sarazen's Champion's Ceremony before, and this one had been in Gene Sarazen's possession since 1935!

High grade photograph with incredible clarity. Green Jackets would not be awarded until 1949, so this Champion's Ceremony involved Sarazen receiving the winner's check from famed sportswriter Grantland Rice.

This rare photograph is being consigned today directly by Gene Sarazen's Estate, and includes a letter of provenance from Sarazen's daughter, Mary Ann Sarazen. We recently sent the photo to PSA, which encapsulated and authenticated the photograph as a Type 1 original.

6.5" x 8.5". PSA Type 1

Letter of Authenticity from Mary Ann Sarazen [Gene Sarazen Estate]
