Bernard Darwin Handwritten
and Signed Letter
Presented here is a rare handwritten and signed letter of the greatest golf
writer of all-time, Bernard Darwin. Darwin died in 1961, long before
autographs were extensively collected, which explains the scarcity of his
signatures.
Despite no formal training as a journalist (he was an attorney), Darwin
dedicated his life to writing about golf and was truly a pioneer in the field.
Darwin was the first person in the world to write about golf on a daily basis,
and may still be the most prolific golf writer ever.
This two-sided letter is written completely by hand by the great journalist and
has been beautifully signed by Darwin at its conclusion. This letter is
dated June 12, 1944. A truly remarkable piece of golf history.
