Bruce Edwards' Personal 17th Hole Flag
Presentation
from Tom Watson, 1982 US Open
BRUCE EDWARDS COLLECTION
In this auction, we have the privilege of offering several important items from
the personal collection of the late Bruce Edwards. Bruce Edwards was one of the
most beloved caddies of all-time, famously caddying for Tom Watson and Greg
Norman before succumbing to Lou Gehrig's disease in 2004.
Tom Watson's chip in at Pebble Beach's 17th hole at the 1982 U.S. Open is among
the most famous shots in golf history. Watson's famous caddie, Bruce Edwards,
was of course there for it all. Presented here is the late Bruce Edwards' most
prized possession from that famous shot. Many years after the 1982 U.S. Open,
Tom Watson presented Bruce with a replica 17th hole flag, which Watson
personally inscribed: "Bruce, Our greatest memory! -Tom". Bruce shadowboxed the
flag with a 1982 U.S. Open Program, which is also personalized to Bruce and
autographed by Watson. These pieces of history are framed alongside Bruce
Edwards' actual caddie badge from the 1982 Open.
Condition: The
shadowbox display has some dings and scrapes, and does not come with any glass
or protective front. Bidders should instead focus on the rare memorabilia
contained within.
