Clifford Roberts Signed
Augusta National Letter
w/ Masters Crystal Content
Presented here is an actual Clifford Roberts signed letter on Augusta National
letterhead. This 1973 letter has some incredible content. In it, Clifford
Roberts addresses Ken Janke, who was the executor of Walter Hagen's estate
(Hagen passed away in 1968), about a charity event in Hagen's honor. Apparently,
Janke asked Clifford Roberts for a piece of the famous Masters Crystal -
presumably to auction it for charity. As you can see in the letter, Clifford
Roberts quickly, but politely, rejected this request and pointed out that the
Masters Eagle crystal was not awarded until 1954 - years after Walter Hagen
retired.
This original letter contains an excellent autograph of the late Clifford
Roberts.
