Clifford Roberts Signed
1959 Masters Player Rules Document
This is the original document that Clifford Roberts sent to players who were
about to compete in the 1959 Masters Tournament. The document outlined rules for
slow play and offered free meals to players during designated times. Roberts
also emphasized that no extra balls be played during practice rounds - a strict
rule that remains in place today. Another highlight of this original document is
the following announcement: "The Club has a new practice facility, a Par 3
course, which we are happy to make available to our tournament player guests."
This original 1959 Masters Tournament
document was sent to Chuck Kocsis, who would end up finishing T22 at the 1959
Masters. The end of this 2-page document contains an excellent signature of
Clifford Roberts.
