1933 Augusta National Course-Opening FDC

       The following item comes from the personal collection of the late Lowrey Stulb, the well-regarded Augusta architect responsible for much of how Augusta National Golf Club looks today. Stulb designed and oversaw the construction of the Augusta National Pro Shop, Mamie's Cabin, the Sarazen Bridge and other structures on the famed course.

        But long before Stulb worked for Augusta National, he grew up near the future course, and even attended parties at the Berkmans' House before it would famously become Augusta National's clubhouse.

        Part of Lowrey Stulb's collection when he passed away earlier this year at the age of 97 were the original First Day Covers and post card that 15 year old Stulb obtained to commemorate the opening of Augusta National Golf Club. Like all young golfers in 1933, Stulb was a big fan on Bobby Jones, so he collected each variation of new First Day Covers (which were very collectible souvenirs back in the 1930's) and saved them for the remaining 80+ years oh his life!

        Offered here is an item we've never seen before. This is an original commemorative postcard from the opening of Augusta National Golf Club on January 13, 1933. The postcard is in remarkable condition and is stamped with the young Lowrey Stulb's address on Johns Road in Augusta - a stone's throw from Augusta Country Club and Augusta National Golf Club.
