1937 Sam Snead Wins Early

Professional Long Drive Contest Wire Photo

You may think of Long Drive contests as more modern inventions, but they've have been around for quite a while. This tremendous 1937 photograph shows the great Sam Snead winning the First National Professional Driving Championship in 1937 with an average blast of 313 yards. Quite the distance when considering the technology of the day was wooden head drivers and heavy steel shafts! This 7x9" photo is in nice shape (light bend on the left side that is almost invisible to the naked eye) and with a wonderful paper caption on the back describing the tournament and Sam Snead.
