Rodman Wanamaker
Signed letter
This is an exceptional original autographed letter of Rodman Wanamaker. The
depart store magnet Wanamaker had a passion for golf, and invited Walter Hagen
and 34 other prominent golfers and golf industry insiders to a luncheon in 1916
to discuss forming a professional golf league. With Wanamaker's money for
trophies and prize money, the players' accepted Wanamaker's offer and the
Professional Golfers Association of America was formed. And, of course, to this
day players still compete in the PGA Championship each year for a chance to win
the Wanamaker Trophy. This original 5x7" 1923 letter is on Wanamaker's personal
stationary and contains an exceptional signature of Rodman Wanamaker. Wanamaker
would pass away in 1928, which is why his autographs are seldom seen.
