Bernhard Langer's Defending Champion
1994 Masters Contestant's Pin #1
Augusta National famously offer's contestant's badges to all participants in the
Masters Tournament. The defending Masters Champion is issued #1 (and his caddie
then wears the #1 on his caddie coveralls), while the remaining players are
given numbers in order of when they show up at Augusta National and register for
the tournament.
Offered here is the very first time we've ever
actually be able to obtain a Contestant's Badge #1. This is Pin #1 from the 1994
Masters Tournament. The badge was issued to Bernhard Langer, who was defending
Masters Champion in 1994.
This original contestant's badge comes from the
personal collection of the late Kathryn Murphy, who was the longtime executive
secretary at Augusta National. The Augusta Chronicle once called Murphy "one of
the most influential behind-the-scenes people in Masters Tournament history".
