 1930 U.S. Amateur

at Merion Wire Photo

Offered here is exquisite original 1930 photograph of Merion Golf Club's famous East Course just before Bobby Jones competed in the 1930 U.S. Amateur and won the Grand Slam. The wire tag on the reverse of this original 8x10 photograph is dated September 21, 1930 - just before the 1930 U.S. Amateur started on September 23rd. The reverse of the photo is also stamped by a newspaper's archive department on September 30, 1930 - just after Bobby Jones cemented his (and Merion's) place in history.

The photo is in exceptional condition, and the quality of the image is remarkable. Of particular interest to collectors is Merion's famed wicker basket standard lying on the green next to the kneeling caddie.
