Early James Braid

Signed & Dated Cut Signature

    This is an extremely early signature of the great James Braid - far and away the earliest signature of Braid's that we've ever offered. Long before he became one of golf's greatest,a 31 year old Braid won the Open Championship for the very first time in 1901. Offered here is an authentic signed and dated cut of Braid from the same year as that first Open Championship (which was also his first professional win of any kind). Braid, of course, would go on to win four more Opens, but it all started in 1901.

    This 3 3/4" x 2 1/8' signature is beautifully autographed by James Braid with the important notation "Champion Golfer 1901". A very high grade example of this elusive autograph.
