1961 U.S. Amateur Contestants Badge

This is an actual contestant’s badge from the 1961 U.S. Amateur, which was won by a kid that was about to embark on his Senior Year at The Ohio State University. That kid, of course, was Jack Nicklaus. And the venue was Pebble Beach. Jack Nicklaus would turn pro only a couple months later and the rest, as the say, is history.

This is surely one of the few known surviving examples of a contestant’s badge from Jack Nicklaus’ victory at the 1961 U.S. Amateur victory at Pebbl Beach.
