1953 British Open
Final Day Draw Sheet (Hogan Wins)
We take for granted the fact that the great Ben Hogan achieved the career Grand Slam – winning all four Major Championships. The amazing part about that feat is that Hogan played in the Open Championship only once – in 1953.
Offered here (for the first time we’ve ever seen) is an original draw sheet for final day of the 1953 Open Championship at Carnoustie. Going in, Scotsman Eric Brown was leading with 142 followed by Peter Thomson and Ben Hogan at 144. Hogan, of course, would take charge of the tournament and win his 3rd Major in a row.
This draw sheet from the final day of the 1953 Open is in excellent condition.
