Original Springvale Bramble Golf Ball
from The Harry B. Wood Collection
Offered here is a rare original circa 1900 Springvale bramble golf ball. But not just any Springvale bramble, this exact ball belonged to famed collector Harry B. Wood and bears his well-recognized small paper label bearing Wood's own handwritten notation: "Springvale 27". These handwritten labels were created by Wood in order to display his grand collection in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
This ball has a wonderful provenance as it came from collector Frank Hardison who spent over 70 years assembling one of the world's finest collections of rare and important golf memorabilia, including his purchase of the golf golf balls from the famous Harry B. Wood Collection. This is one of those great balls.
The ball is unused and bears the famous label with the HB Woods ink inscription. There is also a hand carved W on the ball indicating the ball belonged to Mr. Wood personally.
Letter of Authenticity from Green Jacket Auctions.
