1870s Original Watercolor
by Major F.P. Hopkins
Offered here is one of the earliest golf paintings that we've ever offered. This is an original 1870s watercolor painting by Major F.P. Hopkins. The painting depicts at match at Westward Ho! between Dr. Argyle Robertson and Captain Gordon. Dr. Robertson is probably best known for participating in the first-recorded golf event in North America in 1876 at Royal Montreal Golf Club.
The painting, titled "The last putt", is 8" x 12" and has been framed to 14" x 18". It is signed by Major Hopkins.
