Bobby Jones' Actual UK Entrance Visa
from 1930 Grand Slam Trip

The words "rare" and "unique" get thrown around a lot when discussing golf memorabilia. But offered here is a piece of memorabilia that we didn't even know existed at all. When we offered the historic John Burns collection of Bobby Jones memorabilia last year, there were a couple special items that Burns held back at the time.

Offered here for the first time is Bobby Jones' actual UK Entrance Visa from Bobby Jones' 1930 Grand Slam trip. During the break between the 1930 British Amateur at St Andrews and the Open Championship at Hoylake, Jones and his wife Mary traveled to Paris to get away from the chaos. This is the actual entrance visa document that Jones himself had to fill out during the boat trip across the English Channel. Everything written on the document is in Jones' own hand. It includes a large "Robt. T. Jones, Jr." autograph at the bottom. Above that autograph, the man in the midst of his quest to become the greatest golfer who ever lived...lists his occupation as "Attorney". Jones also lists his address in the UK as the Savoy Hotel - which acted as Jones' home base during his British leg of the Grand Slam in 1930. Measures 6" x 4".
