The Golf Swing - The Ernest Jones Method
by Daryn Hammond

When you think of noted golf instructors, today’s generation immediately calls to mind the likes of Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter and Hank Haney.  However, long before this class, and even prior to great instructors like Harvey Penick, Claude Harmon, Tommy Armour, etc, there was a golf teaching pioneer named Ernest Jones.

His career included playing competitively, winning a number of tournaments, serving as head golf professional at several of America's most esteemed golf clubs, and a career of teaching both tour professional and amateur golfers. In the years after World War II, he conducted his instruction indoors at the Spaulding Building in New York City. He found that he could achieve better success with his students indoors because they would not be distracted by ball flight and instead focused on performing the swing correctly.   His notable students include Horton Smith, Glenna Collett Vare and Lawson Little.  Jones was inducted into the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame in 1977.

Offered here is Daryn Hammond’s definitive book detailing that teaching method of Ernest Jones.  The book is a 1920 First Edition in good condition with a tight binding.  Gilchrist’s Guide to Golf Collectibles values the book at $150.
