The Centennial of Golf in America
Wooden Box with 4 Bronze Medals

By Scottish standards, where the game began much earlier, it seems like a short time period, however, 1987 marked the Centennial of Golf in America.  This beautiful Wooden Box and Bronze Medal Collection commemorating that 100-year anniversary was surely a gift or prize given out at Oak Hill Country Club.  The box measures approximately 9 1/2" x 5" x 4 1/2", is constructed of cherry wood and contains four Bronze Medals commemorating the Centennial of Golf in America.

One medal depicts Jack Nicklaus and proclaims him Player of the Century.

Another depicts the John R. Williams Tournament at Oak Hill Country Club.

The remaining two medals list the Players of the Decades from 1888-1987, which include players such as C.B. MacDonald, Willie Anderson, Francis Ouimet, Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones, Tom Watson and Nancy Lopez.

The Medals are from the Medalic Art Co.
