Frank Souchak's

Frank Souchak was a Professional Football Player and accomplished amateur golfer. His most noted golf accomplishment was opening with a 70 in the first round of the 1953 U.S. Open at Oakmont, ultimately finishing as low amateur in 9th place, 13 shots behind runaway winner Ben Hogan.
Presented here is an item from another National Golf Championship in which Souchak competed, his 1948 U.S. Amateur Contestant Badge. Contestant's Badges from National Championships have long been sought after by collectors and this one should be no exception. Willie Turnesa would go on to win the ’48 Amateur, which was held at Memphis Country Club.
