Ben Hogan's Personal Hogan Iron Test Club

For Ben Hogan collectors, it does not get much better than this … a Ben Hogan Personally-Used Test Iron.  Ben Hogan perfected the art of practice during his Hall of Fame career and as a result, is widely considered the best ball striker of all time.  During his countless hours spent on the range, Hogan inevitably would test equipment in order to provide feedback and suggest innovations.

Presented here is one such piece of equipment tested by Hogan, a 5 iron without any Ben Hogan stamping.  The club was made in the model shop at the Ben Hogan Company and was calibrated to Hogan's specifications in order to test the new Vector shaft. The club bears noticeable iron bending marks on the head.  In addition, the club is equipped with Ben’s trademark reminder grip that has a wire installed on the underside of the grip.  The club shows some use from Hogan's testing, but in this case, that is exactly what you want.  The club comes with a letter verifying it’s origin and use from Bob Masley, Hogan's former employee.
