1902 US Women's Amateur
Contestants Badge from Brookline
(None Previously Known)

Offered here is a contestants badge that we didn't know existed at all. We had never seen it, and Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles lists the prices of early contestants badges with the 1902 US Women's Amateur listed as "None Known."

This gorgeous badge is in excellent condition - complete with its original ribbon. Making this even more special, the tournament was held at The Country Club at Brookline - the very first time the venerable course hosted a Major Championship. The 1902 US Women's Am was won by Genevieve Hecker - one of only 3 players (Margaret Curtis and Louis Wells) to even break 90 on the rain soaked course.

Those factors combine to make this perhaps the most valuable Women's contestant badge in the hobby.
