Circa 1875 Golfers Cabinet Card
(Earliest French Golf Photograph?)
Offered here is a circa 1875 photograph of a group of social golfers. Inscribed on the the reverse in ink with the inscription "Mr Bostock (?) putting". It shows him putting with a well dressed child as caddie and women golfers looking on.
This photograph is believed to be of the celebrated opening of a new Willie Dunn-signed golf course Pau Golf Club in France in 1875. Assuming this information is correct, this may be the earliest known photograph of golf in France. Measures 6 1/2" x 4 1/4".
