In May 1995, the PGA of America famously hosted a Ryder Cup Captain's dinner. Though the Ryder Cup would be played at Oak Hill in New York that year, the dinner was curiously hosted in Dallas, Texas. The reason - the PGA were hoping that this location could lure the great Ben Hogan to the event. As it turned out, Hogan did not attend, but the dinner is still remembered for the collection of golfing talent in that room. This is the event that also famously awarded Ryder Cup trophies to all past Captains - the very first time that most of them received a Ryder Cup trophy.
