The 7th Ryder Cup matches were held at the Portland Golf Club in Portland, Oregon. This was the first Ryder Cup held in 10 years, the last being in 1937, due to World War II.
Ben Hogan’s team delivered a resounding 11-1 victory over the Henry Cotton led British team. Hogan only played in 2 Ryder Cups and this was one of them. Team member Byron Nelson would play in his second and last Ryder Cup at Portland.
