Adolph Weinman is one of the great American sculptors in history. He's probably most famous for his design of the Mercury Dime and Walking Liberty Half Dollar, though his work can be found at the Jefferson Memorial, Penn Station, and US Supreme Court. If you've ever been a tourist in New York City or Washington D.C., you've almost certainly admired his work.
We believe that Weinman only created one golf piece in his life - "Nude Golfer" in 1901. Offered here is that piece. 17 1/2" tall, bronze, and weighs 12 pounds 12 ounces. Cast by Gorham Co. Founders.
A search of auction records shows a 2006 sale at $6,700, a 2007 sale for $5,400, and one more recent sale for $2700 that may or may not be an original work.
