A fine second generation”Walter Dalrymple Patent “Hammer Club” with the sole and two faces of brass wrapped around a wooden body. From the original 1892 patent, this model provided a more durable club than the original model with exposed wooden hitting surfaces. Dalrymple received a patent for his Hammer club in September 1892. But by only 4 months later, the January 27, 1893 issue of Golf stated that "The Dalrymple "Hammer" club was the comet of last season, and has now disappeared from the firmament (a few copies remaining in Hutchison's may be picked up by collectors of curiosities.)" (The Clubmaker's Art (2nd Ed.) by Jeffery B. Ellis, p. 515).

Well, its 123 years later and yes, the collectors of curiosities are very much interested in this club! Unusual club and "short lived" mean rarity in the golf collecting market!
