Here he is - The Silver King.
The Silver King is one of golf collecting's Holy Grails. This iconic advertising figure was produced somewhere in the 1910s to 1920s. Silver King was intended to be a counter-top advertising display for a sporting goods store or golf course pro shop that sold Silver King brand golf balls. Surely due to the fact that it is made of papier-mâché, very few original Silver Kings are known to exist.
It has been estimated that up to 15 original papier-mâché Silver Kings have survived, but we highly dispute that number. In April 2014, we sold a Silver King for over $58,000. And when word spread of that record sale, how many other Silver Kings did we uncover? Zero. And since that record sale 3 years ago, how many Silver Kings have publicly sold anywhere else in the world? Zero.
The offered Silver King is not only one of the only known originals, it is surely among the highest grade examples in existence.
