Offered here is a golf ball that we didn't know existed - a circa late 1890s gutta percha golf ball by clubmaker John Dunn. John D. Dunn was the grandson of Willie Dunn, Sr. and nephew of Willie Dunn, Jr. He is most well-known today as a clubmaker, and by collectors for his patented one-piece club. Until today, we did not know that Dunn ever made golf balls. It appears that this ball was made by Dunn between 1898 and 1902 - before he left New York for good and went west to California (and then overseas).
This scarce John Dunn's remade gutta percha is in exceptional condition, and retains nearly 100% of its original paint. It is contains a bold stamp of two neighboring New York (Westchester County) towns - Ardsley and Dobbs Ferry.
