On January 13, 1933, Augusta National Golf Club opened for business for the first time. Due to the celebrity of its founder Bobby Jones, the event was quite newsworthy for a private club. An official First Day Cover (FDC) was produced for the event, which could be picked up at the post office in Augusta, GA on opening day, January 13, 1933. These inaugural Augusta National FDC's are coveted by collectors, but offered example has been autographed by Bobby Jones himself. Only a couple examples are known to exist with Bobby Jones' signature, and the offered one is exceptional. It contains a large full Robt. T Jones, Jr. autograph. The style of Jones' signature dates to the early to mid-1930s as well, so it was likely signed on Opening Day or in the year or two that followed.
