This is a high grade circa 1898 St. Mungo "Scotch Haskell" Bramble Golf Ball. The patent date for this ball is August 15, 1898. This ball is difficult to find in any condition, but the offered example is nearly unimprovable and retains approximately 99% of its original paint.

This rare golf ball originates from the historic Frank Hardison collection. Hardison spent 70 years assembling one of the finest golf collections in the world, and his golf ball collection was second to none. Among other collecting feats, Hardison famously purchased the golf balls from the famed Harry B. Wood collection.
