Most golf history fans are familiar with Eugene Homans for one reason - he was the golfer defeated by Bobby Jones in the final round of the 1930 US Amateur to complete Jones' Grand Slam. The 1930 US Amateur was held at Merion in September. Apparently Homans had other success that year too, as this gold medal was awarded to Homans in July 1930.
