We are frequently contacted by collectors looking something - anything - relating to the Old Course at St Andrews. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Home of Golf, virtually no interesting pieces of memorabilia exist. While Augusta has its badges and flags and jackets and souvenirs and the like, the Old Course at St Andrews offers virtually nothing to collectors. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find any decent piece of Old Course memorabilia not tied to an Open Championship.

The presented item is a truly unique, actual piece of the Old Course at St Andrews. And it’s simply amazing to us that it’s in private hands and available to the highest bidder.

For what was believed to be the first time in the course's multi-century history, the St Andrews Links Trust installed colored bronze yardage markers on the Old Course in the 1980s. When the course was finally lengthened in 2005, those yardage markers had to be replaced. Jack Nicklaus wanted the 18th hole marker, and a very well known golf writer and television personality obtained many of the remaining colored bronze markers. As far as we know, this is one of only two such original Old Course at St Andrews tee markers that he has ever part with.

This is the actual colored bronze tee marker that was used on the 2nd hole of the Old Course at St Andrews. It is now housed in one of the most visually impressive frames that we’ve ever seen.
