Walter Hagen and trick shot artist Joe Kirkwood famously embarked on two World tours in 1930 and again in 1938. Offered here are eight original home movies from those trips from Walter Hagen's personal collection. Each of the original 16mm Kodak Kodascope reels are labeled and include: #1 – Malta, #2 Africa/Zulu, #3 Australia/New Zealand, #4 Cory Lodge (This is Cory Lodge and Botanic Gardens-Cambridge), Camp Killarney Autumn, Breezy Point #5 Trooping of the Colors- London,#6 Sir Phillip Sassoon, British Open (1938), Charlston, Mexico, and the Ryder Cup.
All eight movies are in color (although not always bright color) and contain several golf related scenes. These involve Hagen performing exhibition golf shots on land and a boat, Hagen and Kirkwood fishing and hunting, Hagen throwing a boomerang, and even a clip of Hagen’s son in his military uniform. Also included is a clip showing Reg Whitcombe accepting the 1938 British Open trophy and the Duke of Windsor presenting Walter Hagen with the Ryder Cup trophy. Included is the original metal case with nine metal film canisters, (one is empty). Even better, our consignor had these Hagen home movies converted to DVD, and that DVD will also accompany this lot. Approximately 400 feet of film, and 112 minutes of original Hagen film footage!
These Walter Hagen home movies from his legendary world tour with Joe Kirkwood come from Hagen's family, who originally consigned them to an auction in 1994.
