Offered here is Tony Jacklin’s original 1967 Ryder Cup trophy. The 1967 Ryder Cup was won by the Americans by a score of 23 1/2 to 8 1/2 at Champions Gold Club in Houston, TX. The United States Team was Captained by Ben Hogan, who made the curious decision to have both teams play with the smaller British golf ball. The American squad was led by Arnold Palmer and Billy Casper, who went 5-0-0 and 4-0-1, respectively. The star of the British Team was a rookie named Tony Jacklin, who won 2.5 points for his team (out of the 8.5 total the Brits achieved).
It should be noted that this official Ryder Cup trophy was presented to Tony Jacklin some years after his retirement, though this in no way diminishes from this trophy’s enormous appeal. It is the only official Ryder Cup trophy ever produced for Tony Jacklin for 1967 Ryder Cup.
A few of Jacklin's other Ryder Cup trophies are part of the newly-unveiled Tony Jacklin display at the British Golf Museum in St Andrews. But not his 1967 Ryder Cup trophy, as it is available here to the highest bidder.
This Ryder Cup trophy stands 12” tall and measures 6” from handle to handle.
