From 1942 to 1945, few professional golf tournaments were held because of World War II. Offered here is a rare original certificate given to the Runner-Up by the American Red Cross War Fund for a 1942 golf tournament held at Wykagyl Country Club in New York. Surprisingly, not much is known about that 1942 Red Cross tournament.
Also included in this lot is an original 1944 Red Cross program, which appears to be from a tournament won by by the great Byron Nelson. This was just before Byron Nelson went on his historic 11 straight victory streak in 1945.
Certificate measures 8 1/2" x 10", and was awarded to the Runner-Up.
