Besides his reputation as a champion golfer and holder of 11 major championships ranking third behind Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, Walter Hagen was an expert marksman and hunted around the world. During a visit to Australia, he befriended Don Mackintosh, an expert marksman who won the gold medal for game shooting at the 1900 Paris Olympic games. Offered here is a rare hand-written note from Hagen dated April 8th, 1937:
"To my dear fiend 'Don' Mackintosh The 'birdies' I got with your gun – came much easier than any I’ve got on the world’s most famous golf courses. Walter Hagen."
Matted and framed with a Walter Hagen photo. Also included are a print photo of Mackintosh, two articles, and a clipping showing his winner’s name at the 1900 Paris Olympic games.
