This is a hard to find iron made by Robert White of St Andrews. White's name has always been associated with high quality golf clubs. Like most cleek makers, he started as a blacksmith. In the 1870s he began making golf irons for local club makers including as Old Tom Morris. In the 1880s, Robert White began making his own irons and stamping them as such. He is also famous for teaching two future club makers - Tom Stewart and Robert Condie. Robert White emigrated to America in 1894.
