Rare 1935 clock trophy from the famed Country Club of Havana in Cuba. The Country Club of Cuba was a legendary course designed by the great Donald Ross that unfortunately ceased to exist sometime after Fidel Castro's Revolution in the 1950s.
This ornate trophy is a hand painted desk clock with a Bobby Jones inspired image. The trophy was won by author and playwright Gene Buck. It was said that Buck's lifestyle was an inspiration for the Great Gatsby by his friend and neighbor F. Scott Fitzgerald.
1935 hand painted desk clock trophy with a Bobby Jones inspired image. This is a rare style removable pocket watch clock with an oil painting of a golf scene with Bobby Jones putting. The pocket watch doubles as the clock on the clubhouse. This is more than likely one of a kind. The painting is signed on the lower right. Painting size is 4" x 3". Clock does wind and work, but reluctantly.
