George Pietzcker is the most famous (and collectible) golf photographer in history. His exquisite works sell for a huge premium over every other golf photographer, as his work is seen as artwork as much as photography. While we enjoy most any Pietzcker photograph, the offered example is one of the finest we've encountered.
This is an original photograph by Pietzcker of a 20 year old Walter Hagen in 1912. It is just incredible to think that Pietzcker got Hagen to pose for him in 1912, as that was the very first year that Hagen turned professional. This was a full two years before Hagen would get his first victory. In fact, Hagen's best tournament result in 1912 was probably an 11th place in the Canadian Open. Nonetheless, Pietzcker had the foresight to snap this exquisite photograph of a kid that would eventually become one of the greatest to ever play the game.
This rare oversize original Pietzcker photograph measures 19" x 14" (visible image, actual under mat may be a little larger), and is framed to an overall 30" x 26". Very good condition. Pietzcker stamp on bottom right. The quality of this photograph cannot be overstated, as it is truly stunning in person.
