According to the famous book Decorative Golf Collectibles by Shirley & Jerry Sprung, “Walter Scott Lenox founded the Ceramic Art Company in Trenton, NJ in 1889, but Lenox assumed complete control around 1895. In 1906, the name was changed to Lenox China Company.” The early pieces marked “CAC” for Ceramic Art Company are coveted by collectors.

Offered here is a scarce circa 1889-1895 Ceramic Art Company Porcelain Beer Stein w/ Silver Lid. The stein contains an image of 1886 & 1887 British Amateur Champion Horace Hutchinson. Interestingly, other examples correctly show Hutchinson as a right handed golfer, but the offered stein shows Hutchinson as a left handed golfer! This is the first left handed golfer we've ever seen on one of these beautiful Lenox steins. Could it be one of a kind? We're not sure.

This stunning ½ liter beer stein stands 6 3/4" tall. No chips or cracks.

This piece is listed in Decorative Golf Collectibles by Shirley & Jerry Sprung with a value of $2,500 to $3,500.
