The Grand Slam Ventures golf card set was originally produced in the early 1990s with a card for each Masters Tournament Champion. Each subsequent year, another card would be produced for that year's champion. While the cards were generally purchased as a set, there are also a limited number of books produced for the cards as well. The books contained the actual cards, and a new page could be purchased each year after the Masters Tournament. The Grand Slam Ventures cards were known to some serious collectors, but didn't get much recognition until they released the first-ever Tiger Woods card in 1997. There was only one problem - Grand Slam Ventures reportedly did not have authorization to produce Tiger's likeness. Production of the cards was stopped and collectors were scrambling to find as many of the Grand Slam Ventures cards as possible.
Presented here is the original book containing the Grand Slam Ventures golf set. The book contains the pages (and the actual cards) of every Masters Champion from 1934 (Horton Smith) to 1998 (Mark O'Meara). The cards from this book are not the regular Grand Slam Ventures cards, however, but are the rare gold foil editions that can only be found in these books. And yes, that includes the rare gold foil 1997 Tiger Woods card.
This is the actual book that was sent to 1968 Masters Champion Bob Goalby, and comes with a letter of appreciation for his participation in the project.
