This is the famous Spalding Waterfall patent club. The name derives from the shape of the deep grooves which cascade downward from heel to toe of the face. The back of the head contains a deep Spalding Kro-Flite stamp and logo. This is an early version of the club from 1919 or very early 1920 with "Pat. Applied For" stamp. Most we've seen have the later Patent date from April 1920. This club, along with all other deep groove irons, was short lived. It was outlawed by the USGA in the early 1920s because it applied too much backspin to the ball. 36.5".
