This is an original 1920s bronze sundial statue of Bobby Jones by celebrated sculpture artist E.E. Codman. E.E. Codman (1876-1955) produced nearly all of his work between 1906 and 1931. In 1931, he inherited a vast fortune, moved away the foundry he used, and never worked another day in his life.
If you've ever attended the Masters Tournament, you've no doubt encountered this same sundial. Another original was given to Clifford Roberts who installed it on a large base outside of the clubhouse. A quick google search will reveal hundreds of photos of the sundial at Augusta National. So, yes, Augusta National has one of EE Codman's originals, as will the winner of this auction. The sundial is engraved "Slow Back Time Right." More recently someone added "Bob Spiller MBA 10/15/84" when this was apparently given as a gift. This large piece tips the scales at 23 1/2" pounds, stands 19" tall, and is on a 13 1/3 diameter base.
