Circa 1900 large unmarked ceramic water pitcher. Striking in appearance with its orange color. The maker is unknown, but the artwork is very similar to beer steins produced at the turn of the century by Hohr-Grenzhausen in Germany. We've never seen H-G work with this material or in this exact manner, but the similarity leads us to believe that the offered piece is indeed German and perhaps produced by Hohr-Grenzhausen or someone otherwise affiliated or connected. In fact, H-G comes from the Westerwald region of Germany, which had the largest concentration of ceramic manufacturers in Germany (according toDecorative Golf Collectibles by Jerry Sprung). 8" tall.
