This is a circa 1880 rut iron by celebrated iron maker James Anderson. Anderson had a reputation of being one of the great iron makers of his day, though he died at age 50 in 1895. This excellent rut iron has a somewhat faint, but still identifiable James Anderson of Anstruther cleekmark.
