Though he was not technically the inventor of the anti-shank iron, George Lowe was one of the pioneers of these clubs. His 1896 and 1899 patents for a set of anti-shank irons may get a lot of attention, but offered here is what appears to be an earlier anti-shank iron by George Lowe. In addition to Lowe's "St. Anne's-on-Sea" stamp, this club is also stamped by James Anderson of Anstruther. Anderson, however, passed away in 1895.
This club is in good condition with solid maker's marks on the head.
