This is a very rare 1920 First Edition of Alister MacKenzie's "Golf Architecture: Economy in Course Construction and Green-Keeping." It has been said that this very book helped lead Bobby Jones to choose MacKenzie to design his dream golf course in the early 1930s, Augusta National Golf Club. Bobby Jones was said to completely agree with the quirky MacKenzie's beliefs on golf course architecture after reading this book and after playing Mackenzie's other jewel, Cypress Point Club.

This is certainly one of the finest golf course architecture books in existence, and original 1st editions seem to seldom change hands. The book is in good overall condition with slight foxing on the end papers and rubbing to the spine and cover, and an early owner has written his name on inside fly leaf. It is valued at $1,250 in "Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles," though has been trading for much higher amounts in recent years.
