Offered here is an actual Ryder Cup trophy issued to the United States Team for the 1997 Ryder Cup, which was held at Valderrama and won by Seve Ballesteros' Europeans 14 1/2 to 13 1/2 over Tom Kite's American squad. Perhaps even more significantly, a 21 year old named Tiger Woods was a rookie participant in the Ryder Cup.
For a collector to obtain any Ryder Cup trophy is a special event, but the Ryder Cup trophies issued to the United States Team from 1993 to early 2002 are our favorite because they were engraved with the signatures of the American Team members. The band on this 1997 Ryder Cup trophy is engraved with the signature of Captain Tom Kite ("Capt" is stamped next to his signature) and the rest of his team, including the Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
This Ryder Cup trophy stands 12” tall and measures 6” from handle to handle. It is stamped with the name of the recipient, a former high ranking PGA official. His name has been photoshopped out to protect his privacy.
