A.W. Tillinghast is famous for designing some of the world's great golf courses, including Winged Foot, San Francisco, Bethpage Black, Baltusrol, and others. But long before this, when he was just in his early 20s, Tilly traveled with his family to St Andrews and befriended the great Old Tom Morris. Then an amateur photographer, A.W. Tillinghast himself took this iconic photograph of Old Tom Morris somewhere between 1896-1898.

Several years ago, Tillinghast's original broken glass plate negative was found and used to produce a very limited run of just 50 original photographs - from that original 100+ year old glass negative.

Offered here is one of those 50 limited edition photographs of Old Tom Morris - this being #42 of 50. Beautiful crystal clear image. The image itself measures 10" x 12", and it is museum mounted to an overall size of 17" x 20".
