Though they had met before in competition, especially at the 1960 US Open, the 1962 US Open at Oakmont was a watershed moment in the rivalry between Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Jack Nicklaus entered the tournament without yet winning a PGA tournament, but Arnold Palmer knew the 22 year old Nicklaus well. The crowd, especially in Palmer's home state of Pennsylvania, was almost entirely on Arnold Palmer's side throughout the tournament. But the young Jack Nicklaus kept fighting and won the 1962 US Open in an 18 hole playoff over Arnold Palmer.

This 8" x 10" photograph of Nicklaus and Palmer at the 1962 US Open is matted with an original scorecard from Oakmont that is autographed by both Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Matted to an overall size of 12" x 18".
